Terms of Service

Plain-English rules for using Glintype. Last updated 2 June 2026.

1. The agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Glintype, a macOS menu bar app for inline autocomplete, midline completion, and per-app writing profiles. By installing Glintype, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not install the app. Uninstalling the app ends the license for the device on which it was running.

2. The license

A Glintype license is a one-time purchase that grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the version of Glintype you downloaded, on the number of devices covered by your purchase, for as long as you keep the license active.

The license is tied to your email and verified through a Polar-issued key. You may move the license between your own devices. You may not resell, rent, sublicense, or otherwise transfer the license to a third party.

Updates and new versions are included while the license remains active.

3. The trial

A free trial is available without a payment method. The trial includes the full feature set for 7 days. You can end the trial at any time by uninstalling the app or by purchasing a license.

Every user can use the free trial once per device. Repeated re-enrolment from new emails, manipulation of activation state, or other attempts to extend the trial are not allowed and may result in the trial being revoked.

4. Acceptable use

Glintype is a productivity tool. You agree not to use it to generate content that is unlawful, that infringes a third party's rights, or that you do not have the right to produce. You remain responsible for the text you accept and publish.

You will not reverse engineer the app, decompile its models, or attempt to extract the bundled model weights outside of Glintype's documented import path. You may drop your own GGUF files into the models folder; that is the supported way to bring your own weights.

5. Refunds

Glintype offers a 14-day money-back guarantee from the date of purchase. Email [email protected] with the email used at checkout and we will refund you, no questions asked.

After 14 days, refunds are handled case by case. If the app is broken on your Mac and we cannot fix it within a reasonable time, we will refund you.

6. The service

Glintype runs locally on your Mac. Network calls are limited to: license activation and deactivation, optional Sparkle update checks, and any cloud providers you opt into with your own API keys.

We may release new versions, deprecate older ones, and stop supporting macOS versions that Apple itself no longer supports. We will give reasonable notice for breaking changes.

7. Your data

Your writing stays on your Mac. The privacy policy describes what we do and do not collect, and how the optional cloud providers you bring yourself handle data. By using Glintype you also agree to the privacy policy.

8. Warranties and liability

Glintype is provided "as is" and "as available." We do our best to ship a working app, but we do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Glintype's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid for the license. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

9. Termination

You may end this agreement at any time by uninstalling Glintype. We may terminate or suspend a license if you materially breach these Terms, including the acceptable-use section.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced on the website and in the app. The continued use of Glintype after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Contact

Questions about these Terms: [email protected]. We read everything and respond within a few business days.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Glintype team operates, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the parties agree to resolve it in the courts of that jurisdiction.
